Garden Helpers

Last Saturday after our fun run, we started our garden. I use the book "All New Square Foot
Gardening" by Mel Bartholomew as our guide. The kids are old enough to be really helpful.
Turning the soil. So glad we made it through this step without someone getting a hoe to their head!
Ethan was the master at tying the string to mark our "square foot" spaces.
Aaron was the master at soaking up the sun and supervising.
This year we did a combination of seeds and plants from a local greenhouse.
My chives and green onions from last year reseeded themselves. Yeah!
We try to water the garden without getting the leaves wet and use luke warm water.
Irina and Luke are in charge of watering. They make a great team!
This year we have planted grape tomatoes, slicing tomatoes, roma tomatoes, cucumbers,
green onions, chives, red peppers, cilantro, rosemary, lettuce, spinach, basil, marigolds
and lavender. Let's hope we get a great crop. I'm hungry just thinking about these vegetables!
