Our Apartment on Vladimirskaya Street

When we arrived yesterday, our translator met us at the airport and brought us to the apartment we will be staying at until Wednesday morning. (The taxi ride was wild, complete with "Ghostbusters" blaring on the radio. As well as some more 80's music mixed in with the Ukrainian.) Here are some pictures of our temporary digs. It's within walking distance to the SDA as well as the main street. I love all the walking!

This is the view from the outside of our apartment. The door to get in is where those three women are standing and talking. Parked directly outside our apartment is a coffee truck selling coffee to passerby. There are coffee stands everywhere. Too bad I don't like coffee!
If you stand on our apartment front steps, this is what you see. Two little shops.
One selling coffee and croissants and the other selling candy, cookies, water, alcohol and cigarettes.
People walking around are either drinking coffee or alcohol and most likely smoking.
This is the hallway leading to our apartment.

The kitchen has a refrigerator, stove top, microwave,
clothes washing machine and a piece of furniture near the porch that has a sewing machine.

The view on our porch, complete with a clothes line for hanging clothes.
Then, the view out the porch window. There is a courtyard with other apartments.

The sink/tub and toilet are in two separate rooms.
We are thankful for some warm water from the shower. It's not hot, but at least it is not cold!
The sitting room. Honestly, we have this door closed and haven't even gone in here except to take a few pictures.
The wood work on the floor is fascinating and the ceilings are probably about 12-15 feet high in all the rooms.
Our bedroom, pardon the luggage! The bed is very firm, but it's much better then sleeping on the airplane.
After being awake for 31 hours, we slept for about 12 hours last night with no trouble.
We really expected and packed for being chilly both inside and outside, but our room is TOASTY!
I wish I brought shorts. The heat is blasting. At least we're not freezing. :)
